A Travel Update | BTalk Australia
(9 min 45) Last year was an interesting one in the travel industry. Economic hard-times forced the closure of some airlines, but Australia escaped unscathed. Qantas, for example, has been investing heavily in new aircraft. Tourism Australia has been spending, not quite as much, advertising down-under as a tourist destination.
Will the tourism campaign work and in this tough economy will consumers continue to travel? Well, it seems innovation will help Aussie operators pull-through. That’s the secret of success for Intrepid Travel.
What about the corporate and incentive market? You’d expect that sector of the travel industry to have hit a brick wall, but some in the industry remain optimistic, like NGT’s Richard Froggatt.
In this episode Phil Dobbie looks back on discussions with key identities in the Aussie travel and tourism industry:
- Geoff Buckley, Managing Director of Tourism Australia
- Ricard Froggatt, a director of NGT Travel in Melbourne
- Geoff Manchester, a founder of Intrepid Travel
- Aviation expert Tom Ballantyne
